Member Committees
Members of BTEC created these committees to help steer and shape the organization’s activities in several key areas. All members are welcome to join one or more of these member-led groups.

Chair: Dylan Kruse, Sustainable Northwest
The legislative and regulatory interests of organizations involved in biomass thermal energy are often underrepresented in Washington. This committee develops and implements the organization’s government affairs strategy in coordination with BTEC’s legislative representatives in D.C.

There is a need for impartial, authoritative research on many issues surrounding biomass thermal energy. This committee works to develop white papers, reports, and other information that will help industry and public stakeholders make technically and economically sound decisions in regards to biomass thermal energy.

Strategic Communciations Working Group
The purpose of the BTEC Strategic Communications Working Group is to:
- Develop industry-coordinated targeted messages to respond to negative media and Internet coverage, and misperception of biomass thermal energy
- Create proactive outreach to media, environmental, and policy influence leaders
- Engage public relations professionals to supplement BTEC staff to implement member and allied stakeholder plans
- Generate content for marketing and outreach collateral materials, including factsheets, webpages, letters to the editor, talking points, etc., that can be converted to print and used on a dedicated website
