BTEC Stakeholder Session on CO Off-Gassing: Sharing Current Science and Industry Prctices

The Biomass Thermal Energy Council (BTEC) seeks to engage the biomass thermal industry through education and outreach activities on potential Carbon Monoxide off-gassing from the bulk storage of wood pellets. This project is funded in part by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

For the first stakeholder webinar (originally held on December 18, 2012), BTEC staff and project partners will present the project's background, existing research, and project goals.

The primary activities of this session will include:

• Outlining the scope of the BTEC project
• Presenting solid science on off-gassing scenarios, what is known and not known
• Describing current bulk wood pellet storage systems requirements and recommendations in Europe and North America
• Offer upcoming project opportunities for wood pellet producers, appliance manufacturers, and installers of storage systems
• Question and Answer session with the project members

Biomass Thermal Finance in a Post-Farm Bill World

The Biomass Thermal Energy Council (BTEC) invites you to a webinar on December 14 at 1 PM ET to discuss strategies and options for biomass project finance independent of federal grant and loan programs.  "Biomass Thermal Finance in a Post-Farm Bill World" will address how companies can and are financing biomass thermal installations through performance contracts, efficiency programs, and better engaging lenders, despite uncertainty surrounding federal programs like the Farm Bill.

Topics include:

• An update on existing and recently expired federal incentives and loans for biomass thermal projects, including the 2008 and 2012 Farm Bills.
• How biomass thermal projects may qualify for Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) funds, Clean Energy Renewable Bonds (CREBs) and utility on-bill financing.
• How Energy Savings Performance Contracts are employing biomass thermal technologies.
• Identifying successful strategies for increasing financier confidence towards biomass projects.  
• Case studies and pitfalls from project developers.

Accessing the USDA's Value-Added Producer Grant Webinar
September 14, 2012

Description:

The Biomass Thermal Energy Council (BTEC) held a free educational webinar in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on September 14 from 2-4 PM ET about the Value-Added Producer Grant (VAPG). The VAPG makes available approximately $14 million in grant funding to help agricultural producers enter into value-added activities. This includes either economic planning or working capital activities related to the processing and/or marketing of valued-added agricultural products.
